THE “HEART” OF LONG THANH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OFFICIALLY COMMENCES

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, the Prime Minister, representatives of ministries and departments, leaders of Dong Nai province, the ACV investor, the Vietur consortium, and representatives of relevant authorities and enterprises.

The Phase 1 of the Long Thanh International Airport Investment and Construction Project was approved by the Prime Minister in 2018. It covers an area of approximately 5,000 hectares, with a total investment of 109,111.742 billion VND, equivalent to 4,664.89 million USD, led by Vietnam Airport Corporation (ACV) as the investor. In the initial phase, Long Thanh Airport will play a “share the load” role to Tan Son Nhat Airport to relieve the congestion caused by the increasing transportation demand. It is expected to have four runways, three passenger terminals with a capacity of up to 25 million passengers per year, and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year.

The project has a large investment scale and requires complex construction techniques, with various disciplines closely interconnected, including construction, electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, information systems, and advanced technology, in order to achieve the goal of building a modern, convenient, and safe airport. Therefore, the investor has organized international bidding and selected a qualified and experienced contractor to ensure full capability for implementation.

After successfully surpassing competitive bidding rounds, the Vietur consortium, consisting of 10 members: IC İçtas İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş from Turkey, Newtecons Investment Construction JSC, Ricons Construction Investment JSC, SOL E&C Investment Construction JSC, Construction Corporation No.1-JSC, Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation, Hanoi Construction Corporation-JSC, Phuc Hung Holdings Construction JSC, ATAD Steel Structure Corporation, and Hawee Mechanical and Electrical JSC, was awarded the contract worth over 35,000 billion VND for the Long Thanh Airport passenger terminal.
