OVER 90% OF THE REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURE FOR LONG THÀNH AIRPORT HAS BEEN COMPLETED AFTER NEARLY A YEAR OF CONSTRUCTION
Launched in August 2023, the passenger terminal building, the heart of Long Thành Airport, has made significant strides after nearly a year of construction. The project management board has now commenced construction on the fourth floor, the highest level of the terminal.

Newtecons and its joint venture partners have implemented a three-shift, four-crew operation to expedite the project timeline. As of late July 2024, the project has achieved a 20% overall completion rate. The reinforced concrete works, in particular, have reached over 90% completion, showcasing the commitment of the Newtecons team to deliver the project on schedule.

The mega Long Thành Airport project brings together 10 contractors. Newtecons’ Project Management Board has worked closely with various specialized contractors in civil engineering, steel structure, MEP, BHS, and terminal equipment to ensure smooth construction operations. This close coordination requires Newtecons’ personnel to develop detailed plans and communicate effectively with all relevant parties to provide the highest standards and quality. The achievements are a testament to Newtecons’ ability to integrate, coordinate, and control project progress.

The project faces adverse weather conditions as the southern region enters its rainy season. The muddy site conditions have presented significant challenges regarding site accessibility and material transportation. To mitigate these challenges, the project management board has implemented measures such as providing dedicated transportation for workers and optimizing construction schedules to ensure the project remains on track.

Newtecons has a strong safety culture, demonstrated by its dedication to giving all project staff thorough safety training. A multifaceted approach to safety management is needed for the extensive Long Thành Airport project. This includes weekly safety meetings, daily toolbox talks, and specialized training programs catering to each profession’s unique requirements. These programs have made a big difference in creating a secure and effective work environment.

The Long Thành Airport project is a testament to Newtecons’ ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects successfully. The company’s proven track record in project management and execution, combined with the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, has positioned the project for success. This achievement enhances Newtecons’ reputation and contributes to developing a world-class aviation infrastructure in Vietnam.
