NEWTECONS WON MEP BIDDING PACKAGE AT GRAND MARINA, SAIGON PROJECT
Newtecons won the MEP package for Investor Masterise Homes’ Grand Marina, Saigon. This is the first Branded Residence apartment project in Vietnam with the Marriott and JW Marriott brands, and it promises to become a new prosperity symbol not only for Vietnam but also for the entire Southeast Asia region.
The Grand Marina, Saigon project’s MEP package is accounting for roughly 30-40% of the entire contractor value. Because this is a significant contract, the Investor only trusts the MEP General Contractor with sufficient capacity and market reputation. As a result, for Newtecons, this is a badge of pride, as well as a chance and a challenge for the construction crew.

Why Newtecons?
Newtecons is pleased to have won the Grand Marina, Saigon project bid. In addition to demonstrating financial capacity, Newtecons has worked closely with the Investor since the bidding stage to thoroughly research the project’s requirements and technical properties, proposing numerous technical solutions that have contributed to optimizing the design and completing the complex MEP system. Newtecons also offered Masterise Homes persuasive information on how to coordinate detailed construction and the human resources expected to be dedicated to the project, guaranteeing that the project is completed in accordance with the Investor’s expectations. Newtecons must deliver a “lesson learned” from the project that is comparable to Marriott standards, as well as propose realistic alternatives for further optimization.

With its unique talents and qualities, as well as a serious work attitude from the start, Newtecons has surpassed several “famous” units in the industry to be appointed as the General Contractor of the Grand Marina, Saigon project by Masterise Homes. Newtecons is specifically responsible for project implementation, including construction and implementation of the MEP package, as well as coordinating and regulating with all suppliers and subcontractors specified by the Investor to finish the project on time.
6-star standard in MEP bidding package
Deploying the MEP package for a nationally famous building in accordance with Marriott’s elite 6-star standards, everything at Grand Marina, Saigon is unique and rigorous. 70% of project materials and equipment must typically be imported from G7 countries with exceptionally high-quality standards. The sourcing, ordering, and delivery of supplies and equipment from G7 countries are extremely complex, which makes this a significant task, according to the Site Management Team. An even greater challenge is how to transport those supplies and machinery to Vietnam on schedule and with the proper quality. Not to mention, Newtecon must conduct extensive internal training prior to beginning construction in order to fully understand the characteristics of each individual type of material and equipment from the G7 countries. This requires extensive research into techniques and multiple workshops with all parties involved.
The investor also demands far better standards than ordinary projects in terms of material origin, density, and characteristics, soundproofing, connection details, and other aspects when working with locally obtainable materials and equipment like electrical and water pipes. To be capable of construction, personnel must possess a high level of competence and training.

The Grand Marina, Saigon project necessitates strict soundproofing regulations between public areas and flats or apartments. As a result, the Site Management team had to pay close attention and continuously implement this soundproofing requirement throughout the project, from the design stage to material selection and approval and construction execution. The MEP system on the ceiling must also be properly organized to ensure the least amount of probe covers while still being easily maintained. The Grand Marina Saigon’s fire safety system, in particular, complies with NFPA and TCVN standards as well as Aurecon and Marriott rules. A 6-star apartment in Grand Marina, Saigon is not only a private luxury apartment but also a modernly smart home.

New level of Newtecons
Implementing a challenging project with very high technical requirements and adhering to Marriott’s global 6-star standard provides Newtecons with numerous potentials to raise its profile, particularly in the MEP area. Newtecons gained more experience working on the Grand Marina, Saigon project with many multinational corporations such as Mace (consultation and construction supervision), Atkins (architecture and landscape), AB Concept Hong Kong (interior design), Aurecon (MEP mechanical and electrical design) … The project management consulting unit, as well as the Investor, have their own QAQC MEP department.
As a result, the Grand Marina, Saigon project’s handover procedure is more involved than it is in usual projects due to the involvement of an independent quality control department from the contractor and a third-party during acceptance. Agreement executed by the Investor upon request from JW Marriott and the Investor’s operating management unit. In addition, numerous experts from all parties are supervising the process.
After Grand Marina project, Newtecons was able to breakout industry norms and exceed expectations in the construction sector. Because Marriott standards are followed consistently worldwide, they cover everything from quality, operation, and management criteria to selling and leasing costs. Above all, the most valuable thing that Newtecons gets is the chance for staff members to grow fully in every way, which improves their capacity to adjust to different situations, cultures, languages, skin colors, ethnicities, lifestyles, etc. Following the completion of the Grand Marina, Saigon project, Newtecons is certain to emerge as the investor’s first choice in terms of strategy and orientation when it comes to implementing the most upscale, premium, and unique construction.
