NEWTECONS HONORED WITH ASEAN-OSHNET EXCELLENCE AWARD FOR OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH 2024
On September 11, 2024, in Singapore, Newtecons Construction Investment Joint Stock Company was awarded the ASEAN-OSHNET Excellence Award 2024 for having an outstanding occupational safety and health management system. This is a significant honor for the company, as Newtecons is one of only two companies from Vietnam recognized at this event.
The ASEAN Occupational Safety and Health Award (ASEAN-OSHNET) is a biennial event held under the ASEAN-OSHNET framework. It aims to recognize businesses with outstanding achievements in occupational safety and health across ASEAN. In 2024, the Singapore Ministry of Manpower hosted the 5th ASEAN-OSHNET Award (5th AOA), honoring 18 companies nominated by the labor ministries of ASEAN member states for their excellence in promoting workplace safety and health standards.
The ASEAN-OSHNET Award is part of a regional cooperation effort to enhance occupational safety standards across industrial sectors. This year’s event attracted leading companies from ASEAN countries to honor ten businesses with the Excellence Award and eight companies with the Best Practice Award.
In his speech, ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn congratulated the award-winning companies for their achievements in contributing to safer working environments and enhancing the welfare and productivity of the ASEAN workforce. He reaffirmed that the ASEAN-OSHNET Award reflects the region’s shared values, commitment, and call to action to continue striving for the highest workplace safety and health standards in ASEAN.
Due to the specific demands of the construction industry, Newtecons has shown a firm commitment to maintaining safety across all its projects throughout the country. The company places safety at the forefront, providing its engineers and construction personnel with the essential knowledge and skills required for working on construction sites.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Newtecons is one of 10 companies from 10 Southeast Asian countries honored with the Excellence Award, and it is the first company in the Vietnamese construction industry to receive this significant occupational safety and health award. Maintaining workplace safety protects workers’ health and lives and fosters an efficient and sustainable work environment. This commitment is also a crucial part of Newtecons’ sustainable development and social responsibility strategy, contributing to realizing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.
