KETCHES TO SKYLINES – INSPIRING FUTURE BUILDERS WITH LEADERSHIP STORIES
Alongside its strategy for sustainable business growth, supporting universities and empowering students on their career orientation journeys has always been a top priority for Newtecons and companies within its ecosystem.
In line with this commitment, on the morning of June 16, 2025, representatives from Newtecons, Ricons, SOL E&C, BM Windows, BOHO, and DB joined the “Sketches to Skylines” event hosted by Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture. This meaningful activity aimed to bridge the academic and corporate worlds, offering students of Architecture and Construction valuable inspiration and practical knowledge.
Representing the Ecosystem were Mr. Nguyễn Bá Dương – Founding Chairman, Mr. Nguyễn Sỹ Công – Chairman of the Board of Ricons, Mr. Ngô Thanh Phong – Chairman of SOL E&C, Mr. Nguyễn Thành Tâm – Executive Director of Ricons and Chairman of D&B, Mr. Hà Quang Giang – CEO of D&B, along with Project Directors, HR Directors, and department heads. From the university, participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Architect Lê Văn Thương – Party Committee Secretary and University Rector, Dr. Hoàng Bắc An – Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the University Council, as well as faculty deans, lecturers, and over 150 third- and fourth-year students majoring in Architecture and Construction.
In a special highlight of the program, Mr. Nguyễn Bá Dương gave his very first talk at the University. With a humble yet profound demeanor, he shared his entrepreneurial journey, recounting the building and development of leading construction brands in Vietnam. Through real-life stories and invaluable insights gained over decades of dedication, he deeply inspired students with messages of belief, ambition, and pride in pursuing large-scale national and international projects.
He emphasized that to go far in this profession, young people need more than passion—they must cultivate great aspirations, remain persistent in pursuing goals, and constantly enrich their knowledge. Above all, professional ethics and kindness are considered core values on the path of growth.
Sharing about the ecosystem of Newtecons, Ricons, SOL E&C, BM Windows, BOHO, and DB, Mr. Dương reaffirmed the companies’ commitment to building environments that empower talent and create opportunities for professional development. He affectionately referred to HCMC University of Architecture as the “cradle” that has nurtured many leaders and managers who now play key roles within the ecosystem.
A standout moment of the event was the open panel discussion between students and company representatives. The auditorium buzzed with excitement as students boldly asked questions about career paths in construction, job opportunities, recruitment criteria, and essential skills to thrive in the professional world.
Mr. Nguyễn Bá Dương and other business leaders attentively responded to each question with openness, sincerity, and inspiration. Their guidance helped paint a clearer picture of future career possibilities, highlighting the importance of hard work starting today. More than just a talk, the session turned into a truly emotional “passing of the torch.”
With a strong foundation and strategic vision, the companies within the ecosystem are poised to continue serving as launchpads for the younger generation’s careers—bringing the “Sketches to Skylines” spirit to life. In the future, the partnership between these companies and HCMC University of Architecture will be further strengthened, offering students comprehensive knowledge, real-world experience, and well-rounded development, enabling them to confidently step into the profession and help shape sustainable structures that carry the Vietnamese identity into this new era of national growth.
