The Fulbright University Vietnam project is located on 15ha of land in Ho Chi Minh City’s High-Tech Park. When completed, the project will provide a modern environment for thousands of local and abroad students to study, teach, train, and research.

Newtecons was chosen as the General Contractor of Design and Construction due to its strong financial potential, modern equipment, talented employees, and extensive construction experience, particularly with high-quality educational projects.

FULBRIGHT PROJECT IS A HIGHLIGHT IN THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN VIETNAM AND THE UNITED STATES.

Fulbright project is a highlight in the international partnership between Vietnam and the United States. Prior to the normalization of relations between Vietnam and the United States in 1995, the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program was established in 1994 through a collaboration between the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City and Harvard Kennedy School (Harvard University). The Fulbright college was promoted to Fulbright University after 20 years of development, which is viewed as a testament to the enormous development of the Vietnam-US partnership.

History of Fulbright University Vietnam:

  • Fulbright highlighted by President Truong Tan Sang and President Barack Obama on July 25, 2013 and it was confirmed again during the visit of US Secretary of State John Kerry in December 2013.
  • 2014: The US Congress allocates funding to create an American-style university in Vietnam.
  • On June 3, 2014, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam signed official letter 821, consenting to the investment strategy of the project to make Fulbright University Vietnam as a foreign-invested non-profit university. The Trust for University Innovation in Vietnam (TUIV) in Ho Chi Minh City invested the revenues.
  • July 10, 2015, in New York, on the sidelines of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to the United States, particularly during Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House in July 2015, Fulbright University received an investment certificate from Ho Chi Minh City to build on 15 hectares of land in the high-tech park.
  • 2015: The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City approved the construction of Fulbright University in Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park on 15 hectares of land.
  • On May 16, 2016, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam signed a license for the establishment of Fulbright University in Vietnam, with a total investment capital of 70 million dollars. In which the first phase (until 2016) is worth 5.3 million dollars, the second phase (2017 – 2020) is worth 20 million dollars, and the third phase (2020 – 2030) is worth 44.7 million dollars.
  • Following President Obama’s journey to Vietnam, US Secretary of State John Kerry attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Fulbright University in Ho Chi Minh City on May 25, 2016.
  • 2017: Fulbright University receives an educational license from the Vietnamese government.

AT FULBRIGHT UNIVERSITY VIETNAM

Fulbright University Vietnam is built to sustainable standards, including the LEED standard (Green standard in modern architecture, certified by the US Green Building Council) and the LOTUS standard (Vietnam Green Building Council Standards).
In the early stages of the project, mobilizing the best resources for the project, the Newtecons Steering Committee will build a dormitory, lecture hall, and central lawn - a green area for learning activities and outdoor enjoyment of students.

On the morning of November 16, 2021, Newtecons kicked off the construction project of Fulbright University Vietnam.

FULLBRIGHT UNIVERSITY VIETNAM WAS BUILT WITH THE MODEL OF A FOREIGN-INVESTED HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION OPERATING NOT FOR PROFIT. FUV IS INVESTED BY TRUST FOR UNIVERSITY INNOVATION IN VIETNAM (TUIV) IN HO CHI MINH CITY.

The school will open integrated training facilities in the first five years after its foundation, according to the plan:

  • Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management: research and policy discussion, as well as graduate instruction in public policy, law, finance, and management.
  • Fulbright School of Engineering and Applied Science: offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering, applied science, mathematics, and computer science.
  • Fulbright University: offers bachelor’s degrees in liberal arts.
