NEWTECONS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE LAST CONCRETE POURING OF B3 BASEMENT OF VAN LANG UNIVERSITY PROJECT – PHASE 4
On the evening of January 18, 2023, Newtecons declared the B3 basement of the Van Lang University project – Phase 4 fully finished with the final pour of concrete. This is regarded as a huge accomplishment since it overcame traffic issues and extended work during the rainy season of 2023, meeting the investor’s demand for early project completion to commemorate Van Lang University’s 30th anniversary.

The Van Lang University Project – Phase 4 has a total floor space of up to 85,000 sqm and consists of four blocks (G1A – G1B, G2, and T2) with heights ranging from four to twelve stories and three basements built to connect existing blocks and tunnels. When completed, this item will serve functions such as parking lots, halls, and technical rooms. Each basement floor will have an area of more than 14,000 sqm. The project is funded and built in accordance with international standards to best support the school’s activities in training, student experience, scientific research, technology transfer, and international cooperation.

To finish the pouring process, which is expected to be the most challenging throughout the project’s development, around 400m3 of concrete was used, and the Site Management Team calculated and mobilized numerous pieces of specialized machinery during the night to ensure that the batch pours on time.

With extensive experience and project management capacity, even though construction in urban areas is limited in time for concrete trucks to move with a basement floor area greater than 14,000sqm, the Newtecons Site Management Team has chosen the right kind of concrete for the specific project. This not only helps to manage the temperature of the concrete throughout the hardening process, but it also prevents shrinkage after completion, boosting the basement floor’s stability and endurance.
Calculating and selecting the best material option for more than 14,000 square meters of basement floor reflects Newtecons’ innovation and competence in dealing with technical and time constraints, as well as our commitment to the project’s quality and sustainability.

Furthermore, to mitigate the impact of limited access to the project on progress, the Site Management Team established concrete movement plans and organized mobile teams to arrange and divide traffic in accordance with regulations to ensure materials and equipment are always present at the project as planned.

Mr. Nguyen The Hy – Newtecons Construction Site Manager stated, “Completing the final pour of the Basement 3 is a major milestone in the project. After a long period of construction implementation beginning in May 2023, as well as many difficulties due to the majority of the construction time taking place during the rainy season, the project’s specific traffic conditions encountered numerous limitations, requiring the Site Management Team to devise the best solution. This is a tremendously momentous day, since it marks the first milestone in the Site Management Team’s journey to master the project’s structure.”
After finishing the B3 basement pouring batch, the Site Management Team will take advantage of the dry season weather at the start of the year to accelerate development, finish the project, and complete the basement structure in the first quarter of this year.
We sincerely thank the Investor, consulting unit, Binh Thanh District People’s Committee, and residents near the construction site for actively supporting and creating favorable conditions for us to complete the concrete pouring batch as part of Van Lang University’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

The project, which is located in the Van Lang Education Complex, aims to rank among the most prestigious new institutions in Asia and lead Vietnam’s modern educational ecosystem by 2030. Newtecons is honored to be a part of this endeavor.
